Most foaming agents are heteropolar surface active substances, slightly soluble in water, and have relatively stable chemical composition. Next, I will briefly introduce the types of foaming agents and their respective characteristics.

1. No.2 flotation oil (No.2 oil)

The functions and characteristics of this kind of foaming agent are: strong foaming, can form a large number of evenly distributed, reasonable viscosity foam. It is a dark yellow oily liquid with pine smell. It is the product of hydration of Turpentine, which is distilled from turpentine with clear water, added with sulfuric acid and alcohol.

2. Eucalyptus oil

Eucalyptus oil is the Steam distillation product of eucalyptus leaves. Its main component is eucalyptol C10H18O. Its foaming function is not as good as that of pine oil. Its foam is brittle and selective.

3. Camphor oil

This kind of foaming agent is a general name for the residual oil after the camphor is extracted from the crude oil obtained from the leaves and roots of camphor tree through Steam distillation. It can be divided into three categories: white oil, red oil, and blue oil. White oil can be used instead of pine oil, with good selectivity. The foam formed by red oil is viscous, while blue oil has foaming and collecting functions, with poor selectivity.

4. Cresol acid

This product is a by-product of coking industry. The function of cresolic acid foaming agent is weaker than that of pine oil. The foam is brittle and selective.

5. High grade alcohols

As a byproduct of the chemical and petroleum industry, it has average foaming ability and good selectivity.

6. Synthetic foaming agent

The No. 4 flotation oil in this synthetic agent has more than twice the foaming ability compared to pine oil, and has good selectivity. At the same time, it has the characteristics of being soluble, easy to wash off, and not affected by pH value and water hardness.
